Wayne had a boring Sunday afternoon.

Intro

Dear reader, Welcome to my blog.

In a former life, i was once a multi Australian & State motocross champion, however in November of 1992, I had a life altering crash competeing in the North Island Championships in New Zealand that I was flown in for. As a result I suffered a broken back and considerable spinal cord damage.

The doctors said i would never walk again. I wanted to not only walk, but to race again. "Impossible, be realistic, move on with your life" is what i was told. Two years later i competed in my first Jet Ski racing title, and by the end of that season i finished 3rd in the state championships in the X-2 Limited class.

In 1995 i threw my leg over the most powerful motocross bike ever to come out of Japan. The Honda CR-500. Yes, i made my way back to motocross, and the "Impossible" seemed very possible.

During that season I raced harder than i had before, and had another big crash in round 5 of 6, and injured my shoulder. I had achieved what I came there to do across 8 months, I was proud.

However, even not racing round 6, I managed to accumulate enough points to still finish 3rd in the state open class motocross championship - again i was on the winners podium.

And boy did it feel good.

I dont believe that anyone had achieved that to date with similar injuries, and I was so content, I walked (wheeled) away at the start of 1997, a man who had achieved a goal unlike no other.

Since then a lot has changed, as has my life, my racing, and my next passion, drift racing.
